![]() Thus the first thing you should do if you decided to reinstall (or reset by some other method) would be to create an image of the current OS for recovery purposes (I use Macrium Reflect). So anything you do that wipes the current working (and presumably activated) OS may land you in trouble. I fixed that the way he did, but have since found that the activation doesn't stick, and only lasted a couple of months, so I redid it in March, but its bust again now (I haven't used the VM since then). I had a lot of fun trying to get a VirtualBox VM of XP activated, and ended up in a loop, as per Ray Woodcock back in 2016. ![]() May I first ask why you want to reset it? Is it perhaps to ensure that all traces of any previous users are eradicated? If so, I would venture that it may not be worth the effort: if you were to manage to re-install Xp (there are many methods out there, but the best would be to have an install CD of the right flavour, and use the legitimate XP serial code on the back of the device), you will probably then have to activate it.
